"WHAT I DID ON MY SUMMER VACATION"

"Sailing with Spot"

It doesn't seem possible, but today is the last day of my summer vacation! One of the BLESSINGS of being a preschool teacher is having the whole summer off! I've enjoyed being at home with Joe and Salem (our sweet dog) and living life at a more relaxed pace. I've had fun...

* Celebrating my parents' 54th anniversary with all my family :)
* Spending a week at Myrtle Beach with Joe & Ben (Beach, pool, & eating out!)
* Sketching, reading books, & knitting a scarf (my first knitting project!)

* Creating art for children to put in my Etsy shop, PHOLKART*BLESSINGS
* Helping Jesse & Ben as they've settled into Ben's new house
* Visiting Joe's mom at her farm (Mmmm!... fresh veggies & sweet corn!)
* Caring for an adorable baby girl while her mom was working (such a blessing!)
* Watching movies at home & seeing "Harry Potter" with Joe at the theater

... So many GOOD things!! As I head back into the new school year, I know that the Lord has given me the gift of rest & refreshment this summer. And I'm so GRATEFUL knowing He has good plans for the children & for me in the coming school year! :)

Hi Ellie & Rozzi!... Thanks for visiting my blog! :)

I really DID have a fantastic summer! It zipped by... and yet, I mostly had this peaceful, restful experience in the middle of it all. The Lord knew I needed to "recharge my battery" after a BIZZY school year! I had missed having regular "art time" while school was in session (I hate to admit it, but at 53, I struggle to keep up with the little ones!)... so having LOTS of time to create was a real GIFT to me! :)

I hope you BOTH had a summer filled with BLESSINGS! :)

Hey Patti, I bet you make a great preschool teacher - and I am also sure being 53 myself, that there are times you love it, and times when it is a challenge. :) Do you teach a full day or is preschool a half day??

Your painting is adorable!!

Thanks for your sweet comment, Mary!... I really love this age group! But I'm not sure I think of myself as a teacher so much as a nurturer. I'm pretty good at kissing boo-boo's and reading stories and giving hugs. That's why I like assisting in a classroom better than being the lead teacher. I get to help fill all the little needs that come up during the day and help the children feel cared for. :)

Last year I worked with infants (I've always LOVED babies!)... but I found that all the lifting was hard on my knees & my shoulders. By the end of the school year, I knew it was time to pass the torch... so this year I'm blessed to be with 3 year olds! I'll be working M-Th half-days, so I hope to have some art-time in the afternoons.

I'm so glad you like "Sailing with Spot", Mary! It's actually an ACEO (2.5"x3.5") that's done in Prismacolor pencil.

Sounds like you really enjoyed yourself this summer! I'm glad.
The party you gave for Opa and I was fantastic! ... all our children together. . . enjoying each other and old friends. It was a great celebration and will always be part of our special memories.

Hi, Gina!... Thanks for stopping by! :)

I'm just beginning to look into digital stamping from the artist's point of view. It's an interesting idea!... but I still need to learn much more about copyright issues & angel policies. This is all new to me!

I wish you the BEST with "Your Special Delivery"!!
